
Anthony Bates – Snr. Partner & Team Leader
Tony Bates commenced practice as an independent dredging consultant in 1976 and founded the Anthony Bates Partnership in 1980. Tony has been responsible for a range of dredging consultancy commissions for a wide range of Clients for more than 35 years. He has a growing list of clients numbering over 140 including some 40 UK port authorities. Tony has managed numerous capital and maintenance dredging campaigns for Clients and has undertaken an extensive variety of investigations and studies and expert witness appointments.

John Goodwin – Partner & Projects Manager
John manages maintenance and capital dredging projects for Clients predominantly within the UK. This includes the licensing process, preparation of tender / contract documents, undertaking site supervision and administration of these contracts. John has recently spent 15 months as the Client representative for a major oil and gas company on a gas pipeline landfall works. John has also been responsible for the provision of new navigation aids within a major port, and for the preparation of the recently introduced “Maintenance Dredging Baseline Document” for a number of ports.

Martin Maloney – Partner & Hydrographic Specialist
Martin has a wealth of experience in all aspects of dredging and hydrographic surveying. He is particularly experienced in the important inception stages of projects, but has experience of taking projects all the way from inception to completion. Martin formulates contract documentation for capital works, maintenance dredging, hydrographic surveys, ground investigations, environmental monitoring and archaeological investigations, followed by tender analysis and subsequent contract award. He also has considerable experience in site supervision of those same contracts including acting as the Client representative/Engineer on site for many contracts. His experience also extends to include Expert Witness work on dredging, survey and related issues.

Colm Sheehan – Associate
Colm is a fully qualified structural engineer and has recently joined the Partnership as an Associate after recently undertaking a PhD thesis on the area of beneficial uses of dredged materials. Colm manages the maintenance dredging for several Clients within the UK and Ireland. This includes managing the licensing process, the preparation of tender contract documents, tender analysis and contract award. He also has input into international capital dredging projects including technical, logistical and economic analyses.
Other Staff
Other staff, including local staff, may be assigned to the project as appropriate.
